A small group of volunteers at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Picton provided gift bags for their seniors, many of whom have not been in Church since the start of the pandemic. These bags, distributed at Christmas and Easter provided home baked goods, seasonal treats, a plant and a hand written personal note. In the calls and cards they received in response to the gift bags, one theme emerged: “thank you for not forgetting me!” The response to these gift bags confirm how important even a small gift can be in assuring people that they have not been forgotten as the months of loneliness and isolation carry on. Phone calls, doorstep contacts and written communication continue as the volunteers at St. Mary Magdalene work to keep connected while separated.
