The Basha Family is a family of 7, that arrived in Canada from Sudan on January 17, 2023, after spending many years in Egypt awaiting an opportunity to come to Canada and start a safer life. Due to unforeseen circumstance, the family’s private sponsors have not been able to fulfill their sponsorship responsibilities. The Kingston and area community stepped up and generously donated furniture, clothing, food and winter gear to help the family get their new lives started.
DOORS is overwhelmed with gratitude at how generous our community has been, but we still need a bit more help for the Basha’s. What we are asking for: gift cards to Food Basics and Walmart (Can be dropped off at the Synod Office, 165 Ontario Street, commercial unit 4&5).
Monetary donations through Canada Helps can be made here. Make your donation to ‘DOORS – General Donations’ and type in ‘Basha Family’ in the ‘Send a message to this charity’ text box on the online form.
Doors knows that the past few years have been extremely challenging for many in our community and we are grateful for the sacrifices that members of the Anglican and Catholic faiths continue to make to help refugees.
