From your Diocesan PWRDF Coordinator, Sophie Kiwala:

We know that during this pandemic many of us have been doing more cooking than usual, taking a little more care with our meals, trying new recipes, many of us have turned into ‘COVID Bakers’, and some of us might even be eating a little bit more! (I am of course only speaking for myself!) I know that when ‘all things COVID’ begin to weigh heavily, hunkering down to focus on preparing a nice meal always lifts my spirits and provides a pleasant distraction.

It is within that spirit of togetherness and uniting through our Anglican spirit that the PWRDF Cookbook Fundraiser was born.

The Green Group and I are particularly excited about the plant based section and we will also be offering an international section for your favourite recipes from around the world. All profits from this project will go toward PWRDF programming.

So please send me your favourite recipes by email (pwrdf@ontario.Anglican.ca), making sure to add your phone number in case we need to be in touch with you.  Add the word ‘Cookbook’ in the subject line so that we can search and trace the emails.  If your recipe is from a favourite cookbook, please note which one so that we can attribute credit appropriately. I am also looking for volunteers for the fundraising team if your interested - we would LOVE to have you!

In addition to the cookbook fundraiser, I am excited to let you know that we have 7 new PWRDF parish representatives! Please join me in welcoming: Alison Bentley from St. Andrew’s Sharbot Lake, Carol Shaw and Meghan Jaquith from St. Luke’s Leeds, Kathleen Hunter from Holy Trinity Oak Leaf, Deborah Brundige from Christ Church Athens, Joan Graham from St. Paul’s Cardinal and Heather Kinsley St. James Kemptville.

On the heels of volunteer week, I would like to extend the warmest thanks to all PWRDF volunteers from both Michael and myself. Your time, efforts and love that you have put into supporting God’s work in communities in Canada and across the world are noticed and so appreciated.

Please note that we will be changing our regular meeting day to the 3rd Tuesday in the month making our next meeting will be May 18 from 7-8 PM.  Please mark your calendars and join us.
