Friends of St. John’s Anglican Church in Prescott have entered a competition for funds offered through the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group and their Commonwell L.E.A.F. program. This funding would allow the parish to expand their ongoing Greater Glory Garden and Pollinator Project.

This community project came about post-covid following the 200th Congregational Anniversary of St John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Prescott, Ontario. With that motto being “Roots on Earth, Growing towards Heaven” it was quite fitting that the congregation would support this endeavour with such generous and wholehearted commitment. The parish now has 18 raised conquest steel garden beds in a gorgeous location adjacent to the newly created Pollination Station on the sunny Dibble Street hillside.

Community gardens offer a promising strategy to decrease food insecurity AND offer space to proudly grow food together, out in the fresh air, sharing historic spaces with friendly faces. The inaugural 2024 season was a stunning success and they look forward to growing into the future and expanding their gardening/pollination educational programs.
