The Diocese of Ontario Refugee Support committee (DOORS) has received a grant from the Kingston United Way Community Investment Fund to help support a part time DOORS assistant Co-ordinator. DOORS is the only Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) based in Kingston.
Says Jill Burkholder, chair of the DOORS committee: “The Diocese of Ontario Refugee Support (DOORS) is grateful to be one of the recipients of the City of Kingston and United Way Community Investment Fund grants. This has enabled us to launch the Refugee Sponsorship Support Initiative and hire Laurie McLean as a part time Assistant Refugee Sponsorship Co-ordinator. Refugee sponsorship is a huge undertaking and Laurie will focus on building support for the sponsors who increasingly are newcomers in the community.”
