The Ven. Bill Clarke, president, Anglican Diocese of Ontario Foundation, announced today a grant authorized by the directors of $ 5,000 to St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Brockville for the Brockville Warming Centre, a shelter for the homeless and those at risk in Brockville and area. This is a shared community project, supported generously by the parish, wider community, United Way, the Diocese of Ontario and government grants.

The Warming Centre is a key community ministry of the parish, led by The Rev. Canon Michael Read, incumbent. This grant is in keeping with the Foundation’s 2021 priorities of offering support to the most vulnerable members of our several communities, most often in collaboration with the Community Foundation of Kingston and Area and similar groups and an array of individual community supporters, as well as parish churches.

Recent grants range from support to Lunch by George for daily take-out lunch packages every weekday (serving upwards of 70 individuals a day) to accessibility grants for two parishes to enhance community ministry.
