Our good friend, Irma Kennedy, died peacefully on February 17, 2023, after suffering a lengthy illness. We all rejoice that she is now at peace. What follows is a summary of her loyalty to the Anglican Church Women.

After Irma retired after many years at Kmart about 1998, she decided that she would like to join a craft group. One day, she was driving by the old stone church of Christ Church Cataraqui, she saw a sign that they had a group that met every Wednesday. Shortly after, Irma joined the group and was convinced to join their Anglican Church Women.

When their A.C.W President left to move to Toronto, she was recruited to become the President of the Christ Church Cataraqui A.C.W. At an A.C.W. Regional meeting at St. Mark's in 2000, Ivy Taylor became the Frontenac Region President (2000 - 2005). Ivy immediately recruited Irma to become her Vice President.

When Christ Church Cataraqui moved to their new Parish Center in 2002, Irma was the Christ Church Cataraqui A.C.W. President. As you can imagine, it was a busy time for our new church. Many events were catered to by the A.C.W. ladies.

In 2005, Ivy stepped down as President and Irma became the Frontenac Region A.C.W. President (2005-2008). Both Ivy and Irma travelled to many parishes in the Diocese of Ontario presenting A.C.W. pins and certificates to well deserving ladies.

In 2008, Joyce Eggleston became the Diocesan A.C.W. President and shortly after, she recruited Irma to become the Diocesan A.C.W. Vice President from 2009-2011. When Joyce stepped down as President, Irma became the Diocesan A.C.W. President from 2011 - 2013. Irma travelled to all the regional meetings as well attending the National A.C.W. Conferences from Newfoundland to British Columbia.

Irma was a dedicated, hardworking member of the Anglican Church Women and held many different positions over the years. We will all miss Irma. She was a good friend, and as you can read, dedicated to the work of the Anglican Church Women.
