In every era there have been artists who breathed new life into stained glass through vision and innovation. Tiffany, Burne-Jones, Chagall, Matisse, Schaffrath, Ferron and Williams among many others charted brilliant new direction and technical wizardry.

The Woman in the Window: A Journey with Mary
On this journey we accompany Mary, a Jewish mother revered by Christian and Muslins alike, through a millennium of stained glass imagery. From a monumental Byzantine goddess to gentle mother figure, to the powerful mother of God, we see Mary anew.
The illustrated talks are created and led by Sarah Hall, CM, RCA, a member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters and the Royal Canadian Academy of Art. The series is based on her course: Radiance, Reflection, Revelation taught at Regis College, University of Toronto.
Throughout her career she has maintained an interest in the history of stained glass, encompassing the ancient origins of the art, its flowering in the Middle Ages, and the dramatic developments that have taken
place in the 20th and 21st centuries. Sarah is author of five books on stained glass: The Colour of Light, Windows on Our Souls, Transfiguring Prairie Skies, A Thousand Colours and Glenwood Chapel, Secret Societies and Their Stained Glass in addition to 35 published articles.
In her own work, Sarah has kept an awareness and sense of continuity with the past, while not afraid to break new ground, both technically and artistically. Her exceptional contributions to the field through new technologies and environmental innovations have garnered the Order of Canada. She looks forward to being able to share her knowledge and insights in this fascinating and ever-evolving medium.
