St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Picton held their second performance of ‘Pulling Out All the Stops’ with Organist Murray Baer on Sunday July 9. The concerts were planned to help celebrate the 200th anniversary of the parish with funds raised being donated to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF).
Baer played for a sold out audience in the church, offering up a musical selection from popular movies, Broadway productions and classic Rock.
Baer’s two concerts (first was held in May) have raised a total of $5,812 for the hospital foundation’s ‘Back the Build’ campaign for a new hospital in Prince Edward County.
A cheque for $2,365 (pictured) was presented to Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMHF following the July 9th concert. Pictured along with Coull is (Left) Kathy Condie and Herb Stone, wardens for St. Mary Magdalene along with Murray Baer and Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign chairperson.
Warden Herb Stone said: “St. Mary Magdalene was filled with people who want to make a difference in the lives of others. Everyone in attendance wanted to sing along with the wonderful songs from so many nostalgic films and performances. We are grateful to Organist Murray Baer for his time, and all the attendees who contributed to our new hospital and had a very enjoyable afternoon.”
The next fundraiser at the parish will be held on August 16, and flute and piano concert with proceeds benefiting an after school music program at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
