The Green Group of the Diocese of Ontario will host a Season of Creation Speaker Series this month that will focus on the climate crisis. Each session will feature a different speaker from our diocese with follow up for questions and answers.

Hosted by Mary Wooding, these webinars will explore the following themes:

September 2: Is this World our Home? A Biblical Case for Climate Care with Rev. Dr. William Morrow. One of the most ecologically important verses in Scripture is, “thy will be done on earth as it is heaven” (Matthew 6:10). This talk will explore implications of this well-known petition from the Lord’s Prayer for engaging in care for the environment.

September 9: What is Climate Justice? with Jeremy Milloy.  What does climate justice mean? Is it an impediment to addressing the climate crisis, or our only chance to respond to the problem with solutions of necessary scale? In this talk we will explore what climate justice is, what it requires of us, and what we might do to make it real.

September 16: Acedia, Lament and Renewal: Spiritual Care in a Time of Climate Crisis with Rev. Canon Lynn Dillabough. Do you find yourself overwhelmed, angry, or shut down about the climate crisis? Do you find action hard to sustain? Learn about spiritual language and practices that can help when we experience either apathy or intense feelings about environmental issues.

September 23: A 101 on Working Faithfully with Government with Sophie Kiwala.

September 30: Climate Change and Sacred Spaces with Roberto Chiotti. Roberto will provide a brief presentation on the impact of climate change and the eco-theological response for the design of sacred space. He will then suggest ways in which parishes can reduce the ecological footprint of their own church facilities, insisting that the most sustainable buildings are the ones we already have! Roberto will also provide helpful suggestions for the creation of outdoor sacred space.

October 7: The Earth is the Lord's and the Fullness Thereof with Bishop Michael Oulton.
