Archdeacons

An archdeacon is a priest who assists the Bishop with personnel and administrative matters as well as representing the Bishop at various events as requested.  There are three archdeacons having responsibility within a territory assigned by the Bishop.  The principal duties of an archdeacon are; to provide support to the Bishop for parish related issues, to lead the process in the preparation of parish profiles by parish selection advisory at the time of clergy vacancies; to assume responsibility for ensuring that all parish registers in their territory are maintained on a current basis, and to ensure the removal of “artifacts” in a decommissioned church for appropriate relocation.
